Shootaround

Do you like how we've taken an "odds and ends" style column and given it a name that pertains to basketball? Our R&D team was up all night getting that one ready, and we're all pretty proud of it here at the Examiner.

-ESPN's Joe Lunardi said in today's chat that X is probably in line for an at-large bid if they fail to win the A-10 tourny but avoid any "bad losses." Thanks to Mike in Ohio for asking Mr. Lunardi.

-Since the Crosstown Shootout, Xavier has gone 33-74 (.446) from behind the arc, raising their season's mark from .295 to .332. X is still a less-than-sterling 215th in the nation in 3P%.

-Tu Holloway draws almost seven fouls per 40 minutes he's on the court, good for 42nd in the nation. Since he plays almost 40 minutes per game, it's no surprise he's shot 156 free throws.

-Xavier opponents shoot 74.1% from the free throw line; only eleven teams have had opponents perform better from the stripe. This is probably not particularly instructive of anything, but it is kind of interesting.

-Tu Holloway likes shoes, BJ Raymond makes it rain in Turkey, and rumor has it 2012 decommit D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera is still considering Xavier.
